The optimally measurement of glutathione
Nature Protocols has published a detailed protocol for optimally measuring glutathione (GSH) and glutathione disulphide (GSSG) concentrations developed by Isabella Dalle Donne and Aldo Milzani, from the Department of Biosciences, in collaboration with Ranieri Rossi and Daniela Giustarini, from the Department of Life Sciences, University of Siena and researchers from the Department of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center (San Antonio, Texas, USA).

Elena Cattaneo Senator for life
Elena Cattaneo, Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Biosciences, was appointed Senator for life by President Giorgio Napolitano on August 30. The appointment recognizes Prof. Cattaneo’s scientific value and commitment in defense of a serious scientific research policy. The Department of Biosciences joins the countless signs of appreciation and congratulations that were sent from all over the world to our colleague on the occasion of this high recognition.

International Conference on the Biophysics of Photosynthesis
The Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (National Academy of Italy) and the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (National Research Council) promote an International Conference on the Biophysics of Photosynthesis. The Congress Venue is located within the structures of the National Academy, at Rome, and will be held between the 28-30 Octpober 2013. The conference will be largely dedicated to the biophysical aspects of photosynthesis and will bring together prominent scientists from all over Europe.
